*Mordred was getting used to having his own home. He was even used to the rather odd people who lived nearby, the Door to nowhere that he could open to anywhere if he tried and the rather odd geography of the area.

*Other people, however, would probably not enjoy walking in on him. If only because of the spiderwebs, the fact that his home was a cave in a rock spire and the unlikely canyon right outside.*

Aye, quite. *He smiles slightly and starts to lead her along the Beam.*

As they walk she starts rubbing her temple with her free hand. She's starting to get a bit of a headache.

Are you doing alright, my friend?

"Yeah I'm fine," she begins, then sighs. "Actually no. My head hurts."

*He curses for a bit.* Any idea why? Too long in the desert, perhaps?

"It could be that. probably I'm just dehydrated. I guess drinking the wine didn't help with that. Can we stop a second while I drink some water? I have some in my bag."

Of course we can, sai. Iffen that don't help I'll even carry thee.

"Thanks." She pulls her back pack around and lowers it to the floor, crouching as she opens the zipper. Her head feels quite woozy and the zipper sticks.

*He helps her open it and hands her some water.* Share a bit with me? I can't deny that it is hot, say true.

"Sure thing, of course." She takes a pull from the water bottle then hands it over. There is plenty to go round and she has a second bottle in her bag for later. "It's plenty hot here."

I'd suggest we wait for nightfall, but night be nigh as cold as day be hot. I have bad memories o' cold.

She's not sure which is worse, being too hot or being too cold. Right now she is inclined to Lean heavily towards too hot being the worst. "You're probably right we should get going. I'm just, not feeling great. Perhaps it would be better if you carried me, although I don't want to weigh you down."

*There's a moment of Red and then the spider appears.* (Don't worry so, I'm not easy ta weigh down.

(Would ya ride or be carried?)

It no longer shocks her. She is now used to the boy vanishing and the spider appearing. She is even starting to recognise the strange flash of red that accompanies the transformation.

The spider looks big and strong (and a little bit terrifying, although she knows he doesn't mean to be). "Can I ride? Would that be okay, not too weird for you?"

She moves closer and starts to climb up on to his back. Or is that his body? She isnt sure. The surface is hairy and it gives her something to hold on to although she does feel a bit precarious up so high.

"Oh my. I didn't realise it would be so high."

(I'm no horse, but I make do.)

That makes her laugh, she grips on as tightly as she dare without hurting him, but not wanting to fall off either. "Giddyup." she teases.

Yeah, yeah. *He slows down if anything, since he doesn't want her to fall off either.

*He still moves at a fairly good pace as the spider, faster than the human form at least. But then even a normal-sized spider can cover ground faster than you'd think, and he is anything but.*

Actually it turns out that riding a spider is nothing like riding a horse. The constant skittering of legs across the floor takes some getting used to, but it is not accompanied by an undulating roll as weight is shifted from one leg to another. With eight legs in motion the result is a smoother ride.

(I'm glad.) *Having something heavy on his back feels a bit weird, but he's long since used to weird.

*When they reach the bridge he crawls over it without hesitation, bringing her back to his home.* (Rest here first, or back to your world?)

She slips down from his back with a pleasingly graceful dismount. "I think perhaps we should rest here for the night and start afresh in the morning."

*He changes back and nods.* Where would ya like ta sleep?

Is there a corner of the cave I could create a makeshift bed in Perhaps? Where and how do you usually sleep?"

I make myself a hammock o' sorts generally, or else pile up some cloth an' sleep on that. Which would ya like?
