Attempting Fun

 *Mordred is not used to crowds, rides, candy and did I mention crowds? So at the moment he is all but clinging to his friend, staring wildly about and jumping at loud noises.* This is supposed to be fun, is it? *Mordred is apparently not used to fun either.*

"You can't just stay on the ride until you've had enough Mordred. You only get one turn and then you have to get off. Let other people have a turn. If you want to ride it again you have to queue up again and pay again."

I could convince folken otherwise, but if you’d rather I not then very well.

"It's probably best if you don't start messing with peoples heads this early into the day. Besides there's plenty of other rides to go on. Lets try the other one you wanted to go on. I'm sure that by the time we have got to the front of the queue, I'll be raring to go again."

[mordredeschain]

Very well, sai. That spinning seats one, wasn't it?

[wordsofwater]

"Yes that's the one. WE should definitely go on this one before we've had much to eat. I remember one girl bringing up a hot dog from too much spinning. it was not pretty."

[mordredeschain]

Definitely do that first, aye. *And he heads off in that direction.*

The queue for the next ride is much busier. It's a more popular ride and also they can't fit quite so many people on it at once as the boat did. They join the queue, but soon there is some pushing and shoving. One person tries to push ahead of Mordred, mistaking his smallness for someone that they can easily and literally push aside.

*Mordred may be thin as a rake, but he's a lot stronger than he looks. He's also a person you don't want to try pushing around.* (I daresay I've found lunch.) *And the pushy idiot will now be mindlessly following after them, that Mordred may feed at his leisure.*

Covey probably should find that comment alarming, since she knows Mordred well enough to know he's not joking. But strangely she finds it amusing. Some humans just aren't worth saving, and everyone has to eat. She grins back at him. And there was I going to treat you to a hot dog.

[mordredeschain]

(Save it for thy own self, then. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.)

*The three of them share a bench and get buckled in.*

Covey checks her buckle. Then checks it again. "Does this seem loose to you?" She tucks her arm in Mordreds anyway, just to be sure.

[mordredeschain]

Not particularly, sai. It made that clicking noise, did it not?

[wordsofwater]

"It did, but it rattles. Maybe that's normal. Oooh hold on tight the ride's starting."

The third person on their bench looks slightly baffled as to why he isn't sat with his friends. His friends look confused too.

[mordredeschain]

*Mordred laughs at the feeling of spinning around and around, clutching Covey tightly.* Lunch next, do you think?

[wordsofwater]

The spinning is making her whoop with laughter, this ride is so much more fun, she thinks.

"Yes alright. There are a lot of food stalls here, I'm bound to find something good to eat. Where do you want to take your lunch?"

[mordredeschain]

Where will no one be payin' attention? The fewer minds I need ta shroud the better.

[wordsofwater]

"That is a very good idea. I suppose behind one of the vans or something would be best. Or even towards the edge of the field by the tree line." She looks at the third passenger in their car. "Do you know of anywhere in the fair that people won't be paying attention to right now?"

[mordredeschain]

*The meal-to-be nods and points to a spot by the trees where there's a small pond. Apparently the ducks are rather territorial.*

Oh, I'm goin' ta enjoy myself with this one. Possibly his friends, too, iffen they won't leave him.

[wordsofwater]

She chuckles. The ride has come to a complete stop now, and she unbuckles the seat belt that she'd been worrying about being too loose.

"Well as much as I enjoy sharing meals with you, this is one occasion i think I'd prefer to eat alone. I'm going to visit the food stalls. Come find me when you're done?"

[mordredeschain]

Very well. *He'll just be leading the unfortunate fellow away like the world's largest and most confused duckling, then.

*There is very little panic and no screaming: Mordred drops his prey straight into sleep before he eats his fill.*

She watches them go with no remorse or second hand guilt, and the faintest Glimmer of a smirk on her lips. The poor Young guy doesn't know what's coming to him. He shouldn't have been so rude.

She turns on her heel and heads towards the food stands, looking forward to eating something unhealthy fat Laden and Incredibly tasty.

*It seems that Covey is acquiring proper faerie morals. Mind you, the faerie moral code can be quite accurately summed up as 'Hannibal Lecter with added magic' . . .

*In any case, Mordred returns before long with a nice full belly.* His friends didn't want ta leave him behind, ya kennit? So I'll not be needing food a while more.

Covey is just about finishing stuffing a large hotdog with onions and mustard down her throat when he returns. She looks him up and down. "Such a small boy with such a large appetite. I don't know where you put it!"

[mordredeschain]

I'm not so small as all that, sai, and most of that be because I'm thin. I be a bit less thin now, kennit?

[wordsofwater]

She playfully taps his tummy as if testing it out. "Yep. I can see it now. You;re a massive butterball really," she teases. "I'm going to get a drink next, they have a slushie fountain in this bright blue that turns your tongue blue. It'll match my hair. Do you want one. or anything?"
